Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes head Coach Jake Wolter announced on Thursday that Cade Garcia, Alex Anthony and Zach Lichosik are finalists for Wisconsin Sports Network’s Senior Football Awards.

Dave Krieg Award: Top Senior Quarterback

The annual Dave Krieg Award honors the state’s top senior quarterback. It is named for Dave Krieg, a 12 season NFL veteran who still ranks in the Top 15 all-time in most passing categories.

Garcia stepped in as the starter last year, putting up big numbers en route to First Team All-Conference recognition. As a junior, he threw for 2,558 yards and 26 touchdowns, with a 99.1 passer rating. He’s been even better as a senior, completing 62.3% of his passes for 2,066 yards and 27 touchdowns through ten games, with a passer rating of 125.5. He’s added 288 yards and four scores on the ground. “Cade is the best quarterback I have been around,” said head coach Jake Wolter. “Not only does he have all the required skill to be a dominant player, he possesses a collegiate mindset when preparing and analyzing our opponents. Cade has full command and control of the offense.”

Al Toon Award: Top Senior Wide Receiver or Tight End

The annual Al Toon Award recognizes the state’s top senior wide receiver or tight end. It was named The award is named for UW Badger and NFL veteran Al Toon.

The Blue Dukes shared the North Shore Conference title, defeating nemesis Homestead along the way. A balanced offensive attack helped lead the way, as Anthony was the top target for Dave Krieg Award finalist Cade Garcia. He has 56 catches for 991 yards and 11 touchdowns through Level 1 of the playoffs for the top-seeded Blue Dukes. “Alex is the most complete receiver I have ever coached,” said head coach Jake Wolter. “His route-running and hands are the best in the state.”

Kevin Stemke Award: Top Senior Kicker/Punter

The annual Kevin Stemke Award recognizes Wisconsin’s top senior kicker or punter. It is named for UW Badger Kevin Stemke, who holds UW records for highest career average for punting (43.5) and total punting yards (10,660).

Lichosik is an outstanding two-way specialist as both a kicker and punter. He’s made all five of his field goal attempts this season, as well as all 38 extra points. As a punter he averaged 38.6 yards per punt.
