The winning magic that led the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes to consecutive victories early in the season returned on Friday night with a solid 21-14 win over the Port Washington Pirates.

The Dukes running game was front and center under the lights at Lubar Stadium with QB Jack Stecker and RB Drew Garcia leading the attack. Undaunted by Port’s opening strike in the 2nd quarter, Stecker answered with an unbelievable 62 yard TD to make it 7-6 at the half.

RB Drew Garcia kept up the momentum deep into the 3rd quarter, running in a 10 yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion to put the Dukes up 14-7. Port came back only minutes later with a 38 yard touch to even the score 14-14.

After nearly a full quarter standoff, all things pointed to overtime until Garcia scrambled past Port’s D for a 5 yard TD with less than a minute left in the 4th quarter. The Dukes held on to their 21-14 thanks to tenacious pressure by the Dukes D, which froze the Pirates at the 27 yard line, forcing three incomplete passes by QB Ethan Baierl.
