Joey Tietjen

Saying that Coach Joey Tietjen is a Blue Dukes legend is an understatement.
A two-time North Shore Conference linebacker, Tietjen played for the Blue Dukes from 1999-2002 under the tough, inspirational coaching of his Father and Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame Coach Jim Tietjen, who watched his son captain the Dukes varsity twice over his high school career.
Joey’s natural talents as a linebacker were on full display when he played for UW-Whitewater from 2003-2006. Success seems to come in pairs for Tietjen, and Whitewater was no exception. He leadership and contributions to the Warhawks yielded two runner-up appearances in national championships.
Joey returned to coach alongside his father in 2007, and has served as Whitefish Bay Varsity linebacker coach for eight seasons and two seasons as defensive coordinator. Not surprisingly, one of his Dad’s inspirational quotes continues to fuel his passion for coaching and the game itself.
“Anyone, anywhere, anytime.”
