- Updated: November 25, 2019
Matt Bernstein, a Senior Free Safety for Washington University in St. Louis, and Macklin Kortebein, a Senior Strong Safety for Holy Cross in Worchester, Massachusetts, played their last regular season college football games over the past two weekends.
Bernstein and Kortebein were Seniors during the 2015 Football Season that saw the Blue Dukes finish 6 – 1 in the North Shore Conference and 7 -3 overall.
Coach Wolter and members of his coaching staff were able to see Bernstein’s last game on November 16th at Carroll University, as Washington University (7-3, 6-3) defeated the Pioneers 62-14 in Waukesha.
Holy Cross (7-5, 5-1) captured its first Patriot League title since 2009 and the League’s automatic NCAA Division 1 FCS berth by shutting out Georgetown, 24-0 on Saturday. Georgetown also has another former Blue Dukes Alum, Defensive Lineman and Long Snapper Brady Weas, who just finished his second season with the Hoyas.
Kortebein and the rest of the Crusaders will travel to Monmouth for the first round of the NCAA Division 1 FCS playoffs this Saturday at Kessler Stadium, in West Long Branch New Jersey. Best of luck to all of our former players.
