Grover Bortolotti announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin as a preferred walk-on. The do-everything senior picked the Badgers over Houston Baptist, Sacred Heart, Wagner, Furman, and others.
Bortolotti had a storied Blue Dukes career that ended with an undefeated Conference Championship and Regional Championship in the shortened 2020 season. The two-way senior stud finished the year with 32 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and 8 passes defended while commanding the Dukes D. He was a workhorse on offense, racking up 761 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns to go along with 189 receiving yards and 3 more touchdowns. He also filled in as Place Kicker for a couple games and put 7 extra-points through the up-rights.
The sensational senior season led to a slew of awards and honors for #7:
- 2nd Team All-State Defensive Back
- 1st Team All-Conference Running Back
- 1st Team All-Conference Defensive Back
- North Shore Conference Defensive Back of the Year
- All-Region Running Back
- All-Region Defensive Back
- Jim Leonhard Award Finalist (Top Senior Defensive Back)
“Grover being awarded this opportunity is no surprise, It shows that hard work truly does pay off. Grover will be a name that will be talked about for many years to come in this program. I know the younger classes not only looked up to him as a great player, but, more importantly a great leader, someone you want to be like. He truly is and always will be a BLUE DUKE!!!” ~ Coach Wolter
