The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes kicked off the 2024 season with a dominant victory over the Milwaukee Marshall Eagles, 43-0. The Dukes were off and running early as they jumped out to a quick 37-0 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back.
Sophomore quarterback Chase Wolter connected with junior wingback Tosin Kolawole to get the scoring started on a 14-yard pitch and catch. It was the first Varsity touchdown for both players. Fellow wingback Joseph Lee tacked on another score 2 minutes later on a 22-yard run up the middle for his first Varsity touchdown of his career.
Wolter would find freshman Mace Miskel in the flat on the next possession, who turned into a 35-yard catch and run to put the Blue Dukes up 21-0 with just over 7 minutes left in the opening quarter.
After sophomore defensive lineman Kaben Ziegler forced a safety to make it 23-0, senior running back Harry Bortolotti took a handoff 60-yards to the house. Bortolotti finished the game averaging 29 yards per attempt with 116 yards on 4 carries.
The first half scoring would wrap up with just over 2 minutes left in the first quarter when Wolter hit junior wide receiver Marcus Webb down the sideline, who made a couple guys miss en route to a 35-yard touchdown reception, the first of his career. Wolter went 3-for-3 on the night with 84 yards and 3 touchdown passes.
Junior running back Finn Sprau kept the offense going in the second half, tacking on the final score in the third quarter from a yard out. Sprau tallied 66 yards on 12 carries.
Defensively, junior Brady Sievert and sophomore Naz Nash led the Blue Dukes with 5 total tackles each. Sievert also added 2 sacks. Senior linebacker John Dorsey and sophomore cornerback Mark Banks both had interceptions for a Dukes D that started the year off strong.
