The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes put up a strong effort against the Hartford Union on Friday night, but the Orioles defended a narrow lead and ultimately handed the Dukes a 14-7 loss.
The Orioles struck early in the 1st quarter when QB Jacob Frantl connected with WR Joe Kasprzak for a 25 yard TD. The tandem would put up another TD when Frantl hit Kasprzak again for a 38 yard touchdown at the 5:52 mark of the first quarter.
RB Drew Garcia, who rushed for 78 yards on 19 carries and four receptions for a total of 55 yards, ran in the Dukes only touchdown with only 46 seconds left to go in the 2nd quarter. Kicker Michael Kauffman made the point after to narrow the Orioles lead to 14-7.
Despite the loss, several Dukes stood out with solid performances, including Punter Jacob Donovan with 200 yards kicking on the night. Credit is also due to the Dukes D, which frustrated the Orioles at every turn and forced 2 turnovers, one interception and a solo sack in the 1st quarter by Junior OL/DL Cullen Starker.
