Dukes Dominate Spartans in 34-7 Playoff Win

The 3-seed Blue Dukes traveled to Greendale on Friday night to face 2-seed Martin Luther Spartans, emerging victorious with a 34-7 Level 1 playoff win and moving the team’s record to 6-0 on the season.
The stingy Blue Dukes Defense were up to their old tricks again, taking up camp in the Spartans’ backfield and holding them to just 102 yards of total offense. Martin Luther ran for only 16 yards on 11 carries, and was limited to 7 completions for 91 yards on 21 attempts in the air. The Front 7 certainly didn’t make it easy for the Spartans, delivering 4 sacks on the night. Nose Tackle Reid Jamerson had two sacks, while DE Joe Brunner and OL Aaron Ghilardi each had one. The Dukes also tallied another turnover to their season total when LB Nick Jorndt snagged an interception in the 3rd Quarter.
With another week of stellar Offensive Line play, the Blue Dukes ran wild over the Spartans, controlling the ball for over 33 minutes. The Dukes O ran 62 plays for 431 yards of total offense, running the ball 54 times for 386 yards. Leading the way was Senior FB Grover Bortolotti, who racked up 180 yards on 22 carries, finishing in the endzone four times on runs of 4, 5, 24, and 53 yards. Senior Patrick Muth made his debut in the backfield and rushed for 94 yards on 13 attempts. Junior Wingback Jack Nau with a beautiful touchdown rfrom 5-yards out to cap off a 21-point 3rd Quarter.

The Blue Dukes advance to Level Two where they will meet the top-seeded Catholic Memorial Crusaders in the 2020 Season Finale. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20th with the location T.B.D.
