The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes 2018 season came to an abrupt halt in the first round of the WIAA Boys Football Tournament with a 47-7 loss to the Watertown Goslings on Friday night.
On the heals of their 35-14 loss to Monona Grove the previous week, Watertown dominated the Dukes on both sides of the line with the Goslings’ defense holding the normally scrappy Bay offense to 219 yards rushing and only 22 yards passing on 16 attempts, which included 4 interceptions. Even under pressure, though, RB/DBs Drew Garcia and Michael Kauffman did their best to move the ball toward the end zone, putting up 140 yards and 72 yards, respectively. WR/DB Russell Enea recorded Bay’s two receptions.
The Dukes D had their hands full throughout the night, as they tried in vain to stop the Goslings’ 392 yard offensive assault. Seniors RB/DB Tim Nelson and RB/DB Ben Burroughs picked off Gosling’s QB Ethan Pauly for interceptions.
The Dukes record finished the 2018 regular season with a 5-4 record.
