WFCA All-State Announced

The honors continue to roll in for the Blue Dukes after a storybook 2020 season, with the latest coming from the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) All-State announcement.

Senior Grover Bortolotti earned All-State Defensive Back and Junior Joe Brunner earned All-State Offensive Lineman after dominant seasons and helping lead the Dukes to an undefeated Conference and Regional Championship.  Junior Defensive Lineman Reid Jamerson was named Honorable Mention All-State after a breakout year of terrorizing opposing offenses for the suffocating Blue Dukes Defense.

Bortolotti, who starred on both sides of the ball, commanded a Dukes D that only allowed 6.14 points per game.  The Wisconsin commit ended the year with 32 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and 8 passes defended.  In addition to being named All-State by the WFCA, Bortolotti also earned 1st Team All-Conference honors at both Running Back and Defensive Back, was named the North Shore Conference Defensive Back of the Year, earned All-Region at Running Back and Defensive Back, named a Finalist for the Jim Leonhard Award (Top Senior Defensive Back in Wisconsin), and 2nd Team All-State by the Associated Press.  The Senior was also named Team MVP and received the Duke Pride Award.

Brunner, one of the most highly sought after recruits in the country, anchored an offensive line that led the way for the Blue Dukes to gain over 2,000 yards in just 7 games.  The 6’6, 300lb Tackle was a force all year and was also an unanimous 1st Team selection to the Associated Press All-State team.  Earlier in the year, Brunner was named All-Region as an Offensive Linemen and Defensive Lineman, 1st Team All-Conference for Offensive Line and Defensive End, and his second straight North Shore Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year award.  The Junior was named the Blue Dukes Offensive MVP.

Jamerson took the North Shore by storm in 2020 and is being rewarded.  The Junior Nose Tackle racked up 21 tackles on the year, with 7 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble while fighting through constant double-teams.  Jamerson was also named All-Region and earned 1st Team All-Conference honors at Defensive Line.  He received the Blue Dukes Most Improved Award.
