The Blue Dukes traveled to West Bend West on Friday with a solitary mission: get the win. They certainly didn’t disappoint, delivering a crushing 27-7 victory against the Spartans.
The Dukes victory hinged on its ground assault, which was led by RB/DB Patrick Nau, who recorded a touchdown and 134 yards total rushing on 21 carries and RB/DB Drew Garcia who scored two touchdowns and rushed for 80 yards.
The offense’s prowess on the run was critical, given QB Jack Steckler’s frustration with the Spartan’s defense. Steckler completed 6 of 10 passing attempts, connecting with RB/DB Drew Garcia three times for 29 of the Dukes 60 yards on the night. WR/LB Jayden Jackson, who had a touchdown, and WR/LB Tommy Brunner made up the remainder with 20 and 11 yards, respectively.
The Dukes’ D complemented the offense by forcing three turnovers, and held the Spartans to 49 yards rushing. Tommy Brunner sent the Spartans QB to the turf twice, and TE/LB Cameron Cox crashed through the Spartans offensive line for his own sack. WR/DB Russell Enea brought home an interception.
